The Rapidly Growing Express Entry System and New Multi-Year Immigration Plan
Posted 20 December, 2018
The Government of Canada has recently been making use of the Express Entry Draw more than ever, giving countless chances to those interested in successfully migrating to Canada. Just as a result of the latest draw that took place on December 20th, 2017 and had a cut-off Comprehensive Ranking System (CSR) score* of 446, a massive number of 2,750 candidates received an invitation. To further favour all the applicants, a significant drop in the cut-off score of the most recent draw compared to the previous ones (452 of the one on December 6th) was noticed.
Similar to the previous draw, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) made use of the tie-break rule which aided them to favour and be as fair as possible even to those who were only able to obtain the minimum cut-off score (446). The implementation of the tie break rule allowed IRCC to prioritize the more deserving, those who had been in the pool for longer as they determined a date and time (October 2nd, 2017 at 2:56:53 UTC, in the case of the last draw) and all of those who had applied prior to the set date and time received an invitation to apply.
The Government of Canada is currently being the most welcoming it ever has and the number of invitations being sent out to apply for immigration is rapidly increasing. This is clearly reflected through recent statistics as the last draw that was held was the 30th one of 2017 and concluded with the Government of Canada issuing a gigantic, total number of 86,023 invitations to apply just within the year of 2017. Furthermore, this total represents 57% of all the invitations that were issued since January 2015, when Canada’s Express Entry System was put into practice for the first time.
*CRS score is the minimum score required by the Government of Canada in order for an applicant to become eligible and further pursue their application.
More importantly, the Government of Canada announced about a new multi-year immigration plan in November. This has brought one of the best opportunities for all to successfully migrate to Canada as it is expected to increase the number of candidates granted permanent residence through the Express Entry system by an entire 20% between 2018 and 2020. Simply after this announcement, six draws were held as an outcome of which, as many as 11,045 invitations to apply were issued. Lastly, as a result of, increasing the number of invitations being IRCC’s target for 2018, it is safe to say that the IRCC will either be hosting larger or more frequent draws both of which will further drop the cut-off CRS score and prove to be nothing but extremely beneficial to all those interested in applying.
